Be smart, play smart, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps evolved from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s knights gambled on Hazard during a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was derived from the fortress’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when exiled by the English, the French relocated south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi riverboats and across the country. A good many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In 1907, Winn designed the modern craps setup. He appended the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he created the spaces for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
